RE:                 Virtual Hours & Learning Packets

The district's Office of Accountability and Instruction printed additional learning packets (grades K-12) to be used during the possibility of an extended suspension of school. These packets will be used as part of the alternative teaching and learning process for students. For teachers in grades K-5, the district has purchased licenses for teachers for these resources and others provided by Education.com. Therefore, it is not necessary to purchase a subscription when you access the site. Mr. Cherron Ragin will notify each teacher via email when to establish your account and the date of accessibility. In the meantime, if you desire to browse the link, go to https://www.education.com/.

Parents and students for grades 6 – 12 can also access the learning packets through a tab labeled Alternative Learning Packets. This tab is located on the main page of Scott's Branch Middle High School's website. Listed below, you will find the schedule for implementing the alternative learning packets.

Please make contact with your students weekly to ensure the completion of the designated packet(s) as well as answering questions for clarification as needed. Be sure to use one of the attendance forms attached as documented evidence of contacts and support being made. As a reminder, you are also to keep virtual office hours. These contacts must be recorded as well.

The district will be purchasing additional licenses for students to use at home. These include USA Test Prep (middle-secondary) Dream Box (math- elementary through middle), and A-Z

(K-5). You will be notified when the licenses will be available for use.

I am respectively requesting that you cultivate the practice of checking your email daily. You may be receiving information from your immediate supervisor or the district leadership team. Although school is suspended during this COVID-19 episodic event, we are directed to continue to pay salaries and benefits. Therefore, the expectation is simple: adhere to all directives and avail yourself via some technological methods in assisting students, parents, and the school system. What is essential, please be safe, use caution, and practice social distance.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in providing instructional continuity and support for all students during this unprecedented time. The students, families, and the CSD1 community are blessed to have remarkable and committed “servant-leaders.”

Always an eagle,

Barbara R. Champagne
Superintendent
